We love your MUSIC! Tell us what kind of trend you want to make with your music?
Thank you! So I wouldn't call this a 'trend' by any means, but I want to bring musicality and effort back into pop music. I was trained in classical music as a child, so that's definitely been the backbone to how I write songs and perform. I think that my idols like Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, and Usher were and still are good at doing complex vocals in their pop songs. That's what I aim to do and bring back into the music industry in a big way with my music.
What are the trends you want to stay away from when it comes to your music?
While I love how accessible being able to create music has become in the last few years, I feel like it's a little too easy for 'artists' to create and put out music now. A lot of indie artists I run into on the internet are putting out songs just for the sake of putting them out. It's like they hear a song they like on Spotify and then immediately record the same type of song with little to no effort put into it. Music is a very precious art form and I take a huge responsibility in being a producer of it. I will never be the type of artist that just puts songs out so that I can be 'popular' or fall into a certain sound just so people will like me. I will always put a lot of thought and care into the songs I release because my fans deserve that!
Can you tell us the genre of music you are most interested in making?
I'm a HUGE fan of country music. It has so many parallels to R&B as far as subject matter and tonality. I have a few country ballads that I've written over the years that I'd love to develop someday. There are also some country artists that I'd love to work with like Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Kacey Musgraves, The Chicks, and Miranda Lambert.
Do you think you want to explore other genres?
Most definitely. Ideally, I don't think music should have genre labels because it's so fluid and you can find similarities in almost every genre of music. That's why when I'm writing or getting beats from a producer I go into it with the most open mind possible. I enjoy all types of music so I'm capable of creating amazing works in all types of genres, pop, k-pop, house, musical theatre, etc! I plan on exploring every genre of music in my career whether that be as the main artist or as a writer/producer.
Has your confidence ever been shaken? How did you overcome it?
All the time! I have many moments where I second guess something I'm putting out or am nervous about how something I do is going to be perceived. I think that's a very human quality that is heightened in artists given our public profession. One thing I do as a Christian is pray. I pray that God reminds me of who I am and my purpose in this music industry. That usually brings me back to my center where I'm able to have a level head and see my anxiety or lack of confidence for what it is, just a fleeting moment. Then, I can get back to making it happen!
Is there anything that is trending right now in music that you're following?
I am really enjoying this new trend of alt pop-rock! I've been hearing a lot of new artists create some really dope songs that remind me of artists I grew up with like, Avril Lavigne and Green Day. It's a new spin on it though, with distorted vocals and bass drops within the beat. It's something that I've been paying close attention to, and am not ruling out dabbling in that genre soon!
What are you expecting to conquer next with your music?
My goal going into 2022 was to perform more, and I'm so blessed to say that I will be doing that in spades this year with some really exciting shows in Atlanta, NYC, Austin, CO, LA, and more! Looking ahead, I want to sharpen my sound by honing in on what's been successful these past two years. I want to grow as an artist and really level up as far as the overall production of my songs and of course growing my fan base. My plan is to start working with a label and management group this year to accomplish this and more! It really comes down to me delivering the best of the best to my fans, and I'm at the point in my career where seeking this type of assistance is necessary to do so.
