Country music icon Dolly Parton announced on Tuesday January 28th, that before her new musical makes its Broadway debut, she will first premiere it in the state where her story began. The show will run for four weeks at the Fisher Center for Performing Arts at Belmont University.

The musical will feature the artists’ songs that we all know and love, and will show audiences the life and career of the country music legend. In 2009, Parton wrote the score of 9 to 5, making Dolly the second musical Parton has penned. With casting to be announced, everyone is wondering “who will be Dolly?”. The casting and production team hosted a virtual worldwide casting call, and millions of musicians and performers posted their auditions with hopes of being Dolly.

Dolly Parton will be portrayed by three different actor’s playing the singer in three different phases of life. In her press conference at the Fisher Center For Performing Arts Parton stated, “I wish I had three of me a lot of times, the way I work.”, emphasizing the core values upon which she was raised.

Audiences and fans can be promised a Broadway show with strong country roots in Dolly. The show will have traditional orchestral elements, but will feature Dolly's bluegrass roots and country flavor that we all know and love.
