Payton Howie proves success with new EP release, Youngblood
“Youngblood encompasses every facet of who I am as a person and an artist. "From my respect for the women of country to my rowdy side and love of country, I wanted to share every piece of it on this EP.”
From a young age, it had been revealed that Payton Howie was destined for a career in music. “I’ve always had musical soul” says the southern California native. She taught herself guitar and over time, fell in love with the art of making music.
At five years old, Payton experienced her first concert which would fuel her musical passion for years to come. After Carrie Underwood caught a glimpse of the young girl jamming out to her songs in the aisle of the auditorium, Carrie brought her up on stage. “I remember the feeling of being on stage and feeling the music under my feet” says Payton. “It was incredible looking out at the crowd and seeing them connecting to and singing along to the music. From there, I fell in love with music. I began pursuing music as a career and playing shows when I was sixteen years old.”
Payton’s own creative influences have come from traditional country musicians such as Reba, Gretchen Wilson, and Dolly Parton. The storytelling process of country music is what draws her into creating the soulful genre.
The newest release from Howie is an EP, Youngblood, pieces together some of the fan favorites, includes “Run Boy Run,” “Country Before Me,” “Break My Own Heart,” “Freedom,” and “Never Go Home.” Each song has a unique story and style combining country and pop.
The EP release has been a huge success with playlisting on Spotify’s The Fresh Finds, New Music Nashville, Fresh Finds: Country, Next From Nashville, and more. In addition, Youngblood has gained Howie’s features on CMT, The Boot, and Cowgirl Magazine.
