Local Nashville Band Hudson Valley Releases ‘Fire’ Cover of Old Dominion’s, “Shut Me Up”
“We sent it to Old Dominion before it was mastered and they said “it’s fire” so we’re pretty happy about that”
[Nashville TN] - Hudson Valley reveals their own rendition of “Shut Me Up” - a single released in 2014 from the accomplished country group, Old Dominion. The unique front-woman led band covered the song as a regular part of the bands live shows so much so that fans thought it was an original. “We’re big Old Dominion fans, and so many people thought it was an original of ours that we decided to cut our version of it in the studio when we weren’t out playing because of the pandemic.”
“This song is a cover but not many people know it because it is a deeper cut from their catalog.” “Shut Me Up” appears to be the ultimate choice to remaster. The country-rock infused single perfectly showcases Hudson Valley’s aesthetic and high-energy persona.
Before the release of “Shut Me Up,” the band received feedback from Old Dominion about the remastered tune. “We sent it to Old Dominion before it was mastered and they said “it’s fire” so we’re pretty happy about that” revealed Sarah Owen, the bands front-women.
About the band:
The foursome combined their influences in the rock, punk rock, and country music genre to create a sound that makes Hudson Valley so authentic and unique. Because of the vast influences, the songstress tells us, “With being influenced by rock music, Hudson Valley is [essentially] a rock band with country lyrics.”
