The 48th Annual GMA Dove Awards

The Dove Awards is always a special time of the year! For the sixth consecutive year, Lipscomb University partnered with the Gospel Music Association to host one of Christian music’s biggest nights featuring top artists from many different genres of Gospel and Christian music.

Country legend, Reba McEntire, stopped by to interview with CCM Magazine host, Nicole C. Mullenbackstage, at the 2017 GMA Dove Awards last week. The country star won a Dove Award earlier in the evening when “Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope” named Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year. Reba also closed out the awards with her performance.

Country Music Hall of Famers and five-time Grammy winning group, The Oak Ridge Boys, helped open the 48th Annual GMA Dove Awards with 2017 New Artist of the Year, Zach Williams and gospel singer Travis Greene. The group opened the awards show with a performance of Williams’ #1 hit and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, “Chain Breaker.”

This year, the GMA handed out honors in 39 categories. An everlasting road favorite, the Oaks remain on tour through the end of the year, kicking off their 28th annual holiday tour in just two weeks. The 2017 Christmas Celebration tour, which features several songs from their new album, will take the group to 25 cities and 18 states.
