Pantone Color for Fall 2017: Red & Ready

As mentioned in our Facebook live video last week, the Pantone Institute of Color released the top 10 colors for fall 2017 back in March. Power-red, along with grenadine are this season's hottest colors.

Following New York Fashion Week this past February, it became obvious that the big color for the season was red. Power-red was seen at shows such as Miuccia Prada, Donatello Versace, Monse, Victoria Beckham, Provenza Schouler, Monse, and several others. As stated in The Cut, "The symbolism-rich shade is also the color of love, passion, the devil, rage, bull-fighting, blood, courage, etc... the shade was chosen ... to represent 'revolutionary love and sacrifice' " (Christine Whitney).

On August 23rd, Kelsea Ballerini rocked the red at the 11th Annual ACM Honors Ceremony at the Ryman Auditorium. Her wardrobe stylist, Krista Roser, chose a Dennis Basso dress pairing it with Stuart Weitzman heels, a Tyler Ellis clutch, and Gabriel & Co. jewels.

So what makes red so powerful?! It is all about getting noticed. I know when I was in high school, I wore my Nars velvet matte lip pencil in the shade "Dragon Girl" just to stand out from my peers.

Designers inform us that if there was a time to hide in our shells, this is not it. This is the time "less is more" does not apply. After all, "why fit in when you were born to stand out?" (Anna Wintour)
