Nashville Film Festival

The 47th annual Nashville Film Festival is finally here and it is taking place from April 14th-23rd. The red carpet was one happening place to be this past Friday. The event took place at Nashville’s own Green Hills Regal movie theatre. The photographers and videographers tried to capture the special moments of the event, as each cast member made their way down the red carpet for their movie premier. Actors of all walks of life, from old to young, all took time to promote their movie and interview with the eager reporters. Opening night featured the world premiere of Josephine, directed by Rory Feek, as well as red carpet guests Jim O'Heir (Parks & Recreation) and Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives, Rizzoli & Isles). Sheryl Crow also stopped by on Friday.

The Highlights of this year's festival included 271 Films, 99 Feature Films, 172 Shorts, 42 Countries, 62 Features in Competition, 48 World/North American/US Premieres. The film that has been getting the most press is Josephine, which according to the official Nashville Film Festival website, is about a time near the end of the Civil War. A desperate young farmer's wife enlists in the army, posing as a man. She battles the enemy, the men of her unit and her own identity in a quest to find her missing husband. An interview was taken place with two of the main cast members, Alice Coulthard and Boris McGiver, by the famous Nashville fashion designer, Johnathan Kayne.

Kayne did a magnificent job of conducting interviews with the actors and directors/producers. He talked fashion with them all on the red carpet and also helped them promote their film. Alice Coulthard, who played Josephine, was very charming and wore an all white pant suit with flared legs that flowed as she walked up and down on the red carpet. Kayne also interviewed the entire cast of the film The Dust Storm. The cast that appeared on the carpet was Ryan Lacen (Director/Screenwriter), Anthony Baldino (Director), Cory Scott Allen (Producer), Kristen Gutoskie (Cast), and Jim O'Heir (Cast). The official Film Festival website states that the film is about Brennan, a stranger in Nashville, a broken musician currently working for a soul sucking corporation. Everything changes when he finds himself reunited with Nora, the girl who crushed his heart a decade prior. Now for one weekend, a romance will be reborn and tested all while encompassing the intoxicating world of the city's music scene.

It was an excellent night to start off the Nashville Film Festival week. The excitement is in the air as the film festival continues throughout the week.
